DTLA GPX Summer Series - Crit #5 (Tunnel Vision)

TUNNEL VISION will be the last race for this year's Summer Series.  Hope everyone has been enjoying racing and/or spectating.  We try our best to keep this series safe and fun for everyone.  If ya'll remember the first time we ran Tunnel Vision back in 2011, it was in a "heat" format.
Riccardo is the only person in the history of our summer series that has won both Track and Road on this course.  Maybe it will be done once again this year.

Tunnel Vision has a total ascent of 0.3 frt and has a maximum elevation of 418.86 feet.
1.29 mile course.

Registration will begin @ 6:30 pm at the WALL
Registration Map:

DTLA Messengers, the Originators of the famous Downtown Los Angeles Criteriums, bring it back once again for the 9th year in a row. Here is the chance for racers to put their $ where their mouth is. Strictly bragging rights! Come out geared, fixed or bring both! Everyone is invited to come support, race or spectate...don't miss out!

As many of you know, the DTLA GPX is a chance for street urban races to come out and showcase their racing abilities. Many local/urban cyclist have used this series to test and strengthen their ability to move forward to CAT racing. If you want to make a name for yourselves in underground racing, this is the month to do it.

***NOTE** This is an unsanctioned event. Everyone races at their own risk. LAPD or City of Los Angeles will not be present to escort or support. It is strictly underground (as it should be) and it is 100% Messenger approved! Please stay tuned and keep checking back for updates throughout the month of July.

See ya'll at the races!

DTLAGPX Race #3 Results - "the OG 6th St. Bridge"

Thank you everyone who came out to "the OG 6th St. Bridge".  The turnout was not that bad.  A total of 17 registered racers came out strong, including KYM NONSTOP (fixed) and only one brave Roadie.  Not sure if everyone knows, but this will probably be the last race on the 6th St. Bridge, since it will be demolished the near future.  Mad good times on this bridge, it will be missed.

the OG 6th St. Bridge has been a super klassik course and one of our favorites.  Thankfully no one went down or suffered any injuries during racing.  As always, Thank You all Spectators & Volunteers for holding down the intersections.  We can't do this without your love and support as always.

DTLA GPX Summer Series - Crit #4 (el GIGANTE)

If you missed Crit#3 (the OG 6th St. Bridge) this past Friday, then ya'll really missed out big time.  This course was 2.34 miles of bridges!  17 racers completed a total of 30 miles.  Both Road and Track ran together, including 1 brave female (KIM NONSTOP).  Barra from team GLK bings home the win.  Thank you all race volunteers for keeping our racers safe from traffic.  Greatly appreciated. Race recap for the OG 6th St. Bridge will be posted shortly.

This next course is brand new.  It was inspired by "the Bridges" course we did for the WestSide Invite 2012.  "el GIGANTE" Crit is a 3.28 mile loop.  Racers will start on the Mission Rd. heading south, making a right on East Cesar Chavez, right on North Vignes, passing LA COUNTY JAIL, right North Main St., right on Daly St., right back to Mission Rd.   Yes, it is a lil long, hence the name "el GIGANTE".   The entire race will consist of 13 miles total...do the math to figure out how many laps ;P

DTLAGPX Race #2 Results - "Diamond in the Ruff"

Thank you everyone who came out this past Friday to "Diamond in the Ruff".  Our night began at our local High School (Downtown Business Magnet High School).  We found it convenient and epic to host a crit right on the skirt of DTLA.  DBM is home for Thursday DTLA Basketball which takes place every week in the summer.  This course had been brewing for years and finally it made its debut in 2015.

The Roadies Category was short and sweet, completing 3 laps total.  The Track Bikes on the other hand, had to double up and complete 6 brutal laps.  The 1 mile course doesn't sound too bad, but it's not the distance that put a dent on the racers.  It was the brutal climb leading into a steep descent down to  sharp ninety degree right turn that made everyone feel their legs.  Not sure what was worse, the Toluca climb or the Temple St. descent?  We'll let the racers and spectators answer that question. The local heavy hitters (Jon B., NeuYork, Willow, etc.) came out full force, but the $$ pot went to a new youngster by the name of Cesar.  Good Job Kid!

********************************************************

DIAMOND in the RUFF was sure a unique and different course, which will leave a memory on every ones mind.  It might soon become the next klassik kickoff.  Thankfully no one was injured during racetime.  A Special Big Thank You to all Spectators & Volunteers holding down the intersections and red lights.  We can't do this without your love and support as always.

TRACK BIKE CATEGORY

The fixed gears had a chance sit back and study the course while the Rodies were out duking it out.   That didn't stop the great turnout, regardless of the difficult and dangerous course.
